ISW At Present

The Institute of Social Work is yet to complete its journey for two decades in pursuit of justice for the 'down-trodden' - the women of rural and slum areas. ISW realises that if the totally exploited population is to be changed, then that has to be done in such a way so that the background in which they live can be changed, too; i.e. the family situation and the community environment.

ISW works with fourfold programmes :

  1. Income generation aimed at empowering the target group.

  2. Education aimed at revamping the social system.

  3. healthcare along with encouragement for family planning.

  4. spreading social awareness about salient social problems.

Recently the Institute has also played role in building up a network among organisations doing similar type of work in West Bengal. The awareness generation programme, too, has got a new dimension with attempts being made to sensitise the police about the fact that crimes against women are often ignored and not dealt with proper care. Besides, the organisation is still running its projects in various districts of West Bengal and aspires to bring in up still new projects.
